Beyonce wore Pucci to the 2013 Inauguration

You guys watched Beyonce’s national anthem performance for President Barack Obama’s 2013 Inauguration Ceremony, right? We expected to be blown away by Bey’s celebratory “Star-Spangled Banner,” but very little could have been done to prepare us for the complete and total leveling she would do on that inaugural stage. Her performance itself was an elegant balance of staying true to the melody and to her own voice, with flourishes in all the right places and all that patented Beyonce POWER soaring notes up, electrifying the air above the Capitol and throughout the National Mall. Accordingly, her performance ensemble echoed that symmetry of taste. Bey appeared both reverent and glamorous in her National Anthem outfit from the top of her expertly coiffed head to the bottom of her floor-length gown.

Beyonce wore a black, long-sleeved Emilio Pucci dress covered in glittering velvet damask. The gown featured a demure high neckline, a kind of hybrid between a crewneck and a bateau, and a mini, blink-and-you-might’ve-missed-it sheer cape on the back. When not on stage, Beyonce kept warm in a plushy Christian Dior coat and on the arm of her sharply dressed husband Jay-Z. If you’re keeping score, Jay wore a sharp, gray Tom Ford suit with a light blue shirt and soft blue solid tie, a contrast hemmed scarf, and what look like slightly tinted, dark-rimmed aviator glasses.

Beyonce’s hair was parted deep on her left side and styled into Old Hollywood, glamour girl curls, but not too done-up as to seem stiff or forced. No helmet hair for this girl. This same kind of next-level natural steez was applied to the rest of her beauty look from her simple-yet-precise winged cat-eye and her beautiful bronze glow to her even rose blush lip color and vibrant solid tangerine orange nails. We’d also like to point out that not only were those giant emerald Lorraine Schwartz baubles (starburst earrings and a cocktail ring) jaw-droppingly gorgeous, but they also exactly matched the bit of green electric tape on Bey’s microphone. We refuse to chalk that up to coincidence.

We leave you with this image of Beyonce (post-ripping out her ear piece LIKE A BOSS) belting out the final notes of her performance in front of an admiring crowd of on-lookers.

Fitness Clothing: Where to Save and Where to Spend

Knowing where to save and where to splurge on your second wardrobe can be a workout of its own. Keep it simple by investing in a few key pieces and then shopping the budget rack accordingly.

Save: Jackets. Although they are cute, this is one area you can save. Since jackets are your outer layer, they are the furthest piece of clothing from sweat and usually thrown aside once you get warmed up. The one exception to this rule are technical jackets used in harsh weather conditions. When dealing with extreme temperatures, rain, or snow, you want to make sure to be protected.

Splurge: Pants. A good pair of pants is hard to find, and once you get the perfect fit, it’s definitely worth the splurge. Pants take on a lot of wear and tear, so it’s important to invest in a high-quality pair that will stand up after multiple washes and not stretch out or pill.

Save: Tops. Unless you prefer tank tops that double as a bra, workout tees are in the save file. This is a broad category and can contain anything from an old band t-shirt to a beat-up tank. The best part about shirts is that they can look ragged and somehow come off as cool sweat gear.

Splurge: Sports bras. Support, support, support. This is one item the men can skip, but for women, it might be the most crucial piece to a workout wardrobe. Getting the right bra with adequate support will make any activity more comfortable and is easier on your body.

Save: Socks. The only time people see your fitness socks is if you’re enrolled at a barre studio, but even then you can find bargains. Socks are purely the cushion between your feet and the shoe to hold moisture and keep you comfortable. Save in this area.

Splurge: Shoes. This item can help you work through a variety of exercises. Running, hiking, and cycling are just a few activities where shoes make all the difference. Since you may end up wearing them around town, either pre- or post-sweat date, getting a durable pair can be well worth the splurge.

Jennifer Hudson’s Inauguration Curls: How To Get The Look

Jennifer Hudson, 31, had one of the most important jobs to do at the presidential inaugural ball: serenade the President and First Lady as they shared their first dance as newly elected first couple. And, for the occasion, no ordinary hair would do! Jennifer took her strands over the top with lush curls that were incredibly glamorous and full of all-out volume in true diva fashion!

Jennifer Hudson’s gorgeous hair & makeup

Jennifer’s inaugural look was so sexy and wild! To get your hair just as curly and voluminous, a curling iron is in order. Remington CI5219 Instant Curls Ceramic Hair Curling Iron, 3/4 Inches  is just the tool for the task. This instant curling iron delivers high ceramic heat and protects against damage. It provides smooth, shiny, long-lasting curls with less damage. Take small strand of hair (about an inch in thickness) and curl all the way from tip to root. Hold for 30 second (longer for tighter curls) and release. Repeat throughout your entire head. Once curled, turn your head upside down and shake while roughing it up at the same time. This will help create even more volume. Don’t brush curls through so they’re nice and wild like Jennifer’s.

Naturally, this event wasn’t about Jennifer’s hair (we did just re-elect our president!) however, there was so much sass and fabulousness going on, we think Jennifer’s hair was definitely a mane event!

Michelle Obama Wears Reed Krakoff at Swearing-in-Ceremony

First Lady Michelle Obama (FLOTUS) wore the perfect outfit over the inauguration weekend. During her husband President Barack Obamas swearing-in-ceremony in the blue room of the White House in Washington D.C. Michelle wore a very nice and conservative blue dress designed by fashion designer Reed Krakoff. She paired her dress with a cardigan sweater and black pumps. She kinda matched the blue room, I wonder if that was intentional lol. Everyone looked nice from looking at the photos, great job and congrats to President Obama!
